Loyola third-year political science major Judd Spako hosted a Q&A session with Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Horn, David Cooper, November 5th for College Night. In front of an audience of 400 students, Spako and Cooper discussed his love for music, his life, and his experiences in his journey to CSO Principal Horn. Spako is a CSO student ambassador for Loyola.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says this year’s pink moon, or the full moon in April, will reach peak illumination at 11:37 p.m. on April 5. Artists Cassie Tompkins and Peter Ronan drew from themes of rebirth and renewal in their exhibit “Pink Moon,” on display at the Roman Susan Art Foundation this month.
The exhibit features Tompkins’ textiles and raw silk dyed with natural materials alongside Ronan’s porcelain ceramic jars, planters and wall hangings.​
They said their work speaks to queer culture, gender norms and feminism, utilizing the color pink to portray these themes and feelings.
“Pink Moon” will be on display at the Roman Susan Art Foundation located at 1224 W. Loyola Ave. during the month of April.

Bringing flavors from the Mediterranean and Middle East to the Edgewater community, Afghan Saray opened in June, offering homemade Afghan dishes unlike any other options in the neighborhood. Owner Isa Ebrahimi runs the restaurant alongside his family, who all immigrated to the United States in 2017.
Born in Afghanistan, he sought refuge from the Taliban in Iran as a young boy. Ebrahimi and his family opened Afghan Saray a to share their cuisine and culture in Chicago. ​

New York native lesbian comedian Ashley Gavin performed four nights of shows at Chicago’s Den Theatre on Feb. 23 to 26.
“My comedy is ineffective in a room full of lesbians,” Gavin joked during her set. “I’m not going to make the world a better place with this. This is just speed dating. Right?”
Gavin’s tour will continue into August. Gavin’s podcasts “We’re Having Gay Sex” and “Chosen Family” stream on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and her YouTube channel.
